A Better Facebook

Dear all,

As a part of our daily life, Facebook is a community we visit so much, and I believe we need to be as entertained and comfortable as possible in this environment, it's why I have a couple of suggestions that will make Facebook richer and more organized. Your votes and responses will make these suggestions real, and we need as much votes as possible, so you're kindly asked to inform your friends, group members and page fans to read this and give us there opinions and support, your voices will force Facebook to change to what you believe is better…

Below you'll read the suggestions and some examples,

1. Tagging Policy: aren't you sick of being tagged in so many pointless pictures and notes that mostly have nothing to do with you?

It’s why were asking for a tagging policy that will control these outrages tags, a setting that will allow some certain group of people we choose to tag us.

2. Facebook Clock: this idea is all about giving Facebook its own global timing, this will make it much easier to meet online, give appointments and get rid of time zones and time changes, this new thing is revolutionary because it’s not going to change according to your own time zone, it will appear the same on all Facebook pages in all languages all around the world.

3. Inform Button: have you ever uploaded a picture, a note or any other activity without getting the number of comments you expected? And you might be surprised when you hear form your friends that they haven’t seen it?

This usually happens because not all of your friends are going to be online when you are, so they might not notice the activity you’re so excited about, it’s why you would tag them in your picture or note even if they have nothing to do with it, this might work but it’s going to get ugly after a couple of times, specially with the huge number of notifications your friends would get on something they might have already seen.

And so, something everyone is going to love is the “Inform Button” it’s something like a notification sender but it’s not, it’ll send a small sentence to your friend asking him to check out what you have uploaded or written. And friends will receive this kind of information in a special pop-up menu next to the notifications menu.

You can choose to inform by list or by individual, this will make it a very organized announcement, and we won’t get that number of notifications any more.

4. Names in Phonetics: many people around the world have names from different languages, and this leads to mispronouncing there names, this would really help everyone who has a unique name.

An so we’re asking for a box in our profiles in which we can write our names in phonetics.

5. Meanings of Names: as a diverse community from people all around the world, we have a very rich heritage of various cultures, and you can find that in our names, it’s why we’re asking for a box in our profiles in which we can write the meaning of our names as well as the language of origin. This will turn it to a very beautiful cultural experience. And to make it better there would be a dictionary of names meanings that we have created, and it can be used as a new service provided by Facebook, names won’t be connected to the original users.

6. Inbox Filter: how many personal messages on Facebook have you missed because of clutter in your inbox? Messages from groups you joined, friends you lost contact with and friends you know all thrown in one place, this is not right. And so we’re asking for inbox filters that will allow automatic categorization of messages depending on the source of them. If it’s a message form a group it’ll go a folder especially for groups you care about, and if it’s from an individual it’ll go to another folder, and we can also create our own filters depending on lists we’ve created.

7. Multi Blog linking: if you have a blog you’d know what I’m talking about, we all know you can connect your blog posts to your Facebook notes, but what if you have two or three different blogs? It’s why we’re asking for multi blog linking.

Thank you all for your time, you know it’s all for the good of Facebook users i.e. us, so you’re kindly asked again to inform everyone you know online to read this note and comment.

A poll is waiting for you for general evaluation of what you think, please follow: http://elmorad.blogspot.com

And if you’d like to you’re invited to join the group: “A better Facebook” that will let you know about new changes as soon as they are made, all members will be notified when more suggestions come up, and I’m telling you there’s more.

Thanks again,

Morad Elzagal
